Central Asian Shepherd dogs are dating back over 5000 years and unlike most of the modern-day dog breeds, they didn’t have any human interference in their creation. Central Asian Shepherd Dogs were created by the climate and culture of a long-forgotten uncivilized time. Today these dogs are mostly used for guarding families, camels, and horses. Because they are so devoted to their family they will guard anything you tell them to.

Central Asian Shepherd Dogs were registered by the AKC in the Foundation Stock Service in 1996.

Standard describes these dogs with a harmonious built and robust, muscular body. Male dogs are more massive and courageous than females. Very balanced, proud, and independent, these dogs can work at high capacity and endurance and has natural instincts of a territory.

Grooming

Central Asian Shepherd Dogs require minimum grooming sessions as they need only brushing once a week to keep his coat at the best. They shed heavily once a year and in that period be prepared for a lot of hair everywhere. There is a saying for their sessional shedding – “fur storm”. Besides shedding season they are pretty easy to maintain. Occasional bathes will keep his coat clean.

The rest is basic dog care – trim their nails when they get too long, brush their teeth to secure good and healthy gums, and check their ears for any signs of infections.

Their coat comes in many colors including black, white, brindle, and fawn. Because of their thick coat, they thrive in cold, but they are not a big fan of hot summer days. During summer you should even more watch your dog so it would suffer from a heat stroke.
